loop region problems

i am still new at this, so am more than likely missing something silly.

when i select an area in the playback timeline as a loop region...how do i "unselect" it...if i want to have NO loop region what is the easiest way to simply go from a looped region, to no loop...at the moment, i am zooming out to get both handles of the loop region on the screen, then i am dragging them to the left/beginning point until there is no loop region...then i need to zoom back in to where i want to be in the timeline....am i missing something obvious?

cheers

Go to Options - Preferences and go to the Editing tab

Check the box that says "Collapse loop region when no time selection is present"

See if that doesn't solve your problem

instead of changing that option I would suggest some alternatives. if you change that option, you lose the ability to retain your loop region which is very useful.

to quickly collapse the loop region you could hit the I O keys in quick succession. this even works while playing.

or you could use the 'Q' key to toggle the loop switch on and off. As far as I know that is the only reason you would want to collapse the loop region... unless I'm missing something?
