looping DVD

Roger Bansemer wrote on 1/20/2025, 2:56 PM

I have one video that I want looped on the DVD. I've placed the mp4 file into Architect and I have checked the loop feature but it goes back to the menu every time it finishes playing. Any tutorials on how to loop a video. I only have one video on the DVD as pictured below.

I'm wondering if I have to render the video as a DVD Architect NTSC wide screen file in Vegas in order to have this work. Right now it was just rendered as an mp4 and dropped into Architect.
Thanks for any help.

The LOOP feature works on a menu, I don't think it works on a video. If there is only one video, you don't need the menu. You should set the end action of the video to link to itself.

The 'loop' selection that you've set is in in the Menu Page Properties window so all you've got looped with this setting is the menu.

In the field just under 'Make DVD', select what is likely to be 'Play' and you'll then get the Media Properties window to the right. There, select 'Loop Point' under 'Destination Item' in the End Action tab - this seems to be the only loop option in the end action options.

It would seem that you'll need to set a loop point on DVDA's project timeline and you'll likely need to refer to DVDA's user manual for more information about looping the project rather than the menus.

Please note that I've not looped a project in DVDA thus far (menus 'yes' but not the project itself) so I can't attest to the above being the complete solution - you'll need to experiment as well as referring to the user manual. Also, go to YouTube and search for something like "DVD Architect looping" and see if any of the YT 'hits' are of assistance.

I think I do need a menu as the option without a menu only has a 4:3 size.

A menu is not necessary to set the correct aspect.

The easiest way is to do this

FILE>NEW>>SINGLE MOVIE>select the aspect and type of audio. Then it opens for you to select the video source. After that select END ACTION, LINK, and Destination which should be the same movie.

I've burned at least half a dozen discs trying to get this right. As per your suggestion, I've set up a single movie so I have no menu. Just so I won't keep burning more discs, do you think this set up is correct for a looping video once the DVD is inserted into the DVD player?

I've gone through youtube tutorials but they just aren't clear enough on this subject.

You need to set the DESTINATION. Right now it is trying to link to a menu that doesn't exist. Set it to SLIDE SHOW (it will show up under the drop down on Destination)

Thanks for sticking with me for this... Here's a screen shot. When I changed it to Slide Show then my Loop option is gone. You think this will loop now. I'm running out of DVD discs.

You don't need loop. At the end of the video, it will link to itself and play again over and over until you stop the player. You can test it in the preview mode on DVDA.

YES.... That worked. Thank you so very much.

I've made a cheat sheet as to these steps so I'll remember how to make a LOOPING DVD. Thought I'd share it with this screen shot.

You shouldn't need to burn discs to check the effect of settings; instead, use the 'Preview' option -

... which previews how the project will display/work when the project is burned to a DVD or BD disc.
