Doing a project,, around 15 gigs of media in media pool, had everything prerendered opened it back up this evening and all prerenders are gone. This happened to me a coupe a weeks after 5 came ,also had a relatively large amount in the media pool ,and I shrugged it off, didnt think much more about it. This time it cost me ,was prepared so a client could view. Client sitting beside me ready to see and,, ugh see ya in the morning.

This happen to anyone ?

First, why do a prerender rather than a print to new track? Takes about the same amount of time.
nevertheless, is there a Firewire drive on the system? You powered down and the drive letter changed? Network shares? Did you change any FX that are project wide? Opacity that's project wide? or a track based FX?

because If the client had a change , which I'm sure he will,I would make it and dont have to re render the whole project, print to tape .and hand it over while he waits (only a 11 minute project)
....1fire wire drive on the system, no letter change, no network
and video fx just on individual clips

Hmm...Did you delete unused files by chance? I don't work with pre-rendered files as much as many do, I'm a fan of pre-renders due to speed. But do enough with pre-renders to know they are fickle, but if you changed nothing...they should indeed be there.
What disappeared from your media pool? Just the prerenders?

One small point about a render to new track, if the client wants a change only in a small section, you can split out that part of the new track and edit original, then render new track+changes and have virtually zero loss....so instead of rendering the entire project, you are only rendering the new section in conjunction with the new track that's been rendered.

Thanks Spot,,
I am 99% sure I didnt change a thing,, this has only happened twice so if it no others have had this problem I assume it is my error.

The one thing I HATE about vegas and its pre-rendering and loss of Pre-rendered files is when I add a new track it will lose everything.

I just wish it would be smart and only re-render the parts I have changed and ignore the added track over the parts I didn't change.

This sucks, big time!

If you open up the projects preferences window you'll nuke all pre-renders. I'm not talking about changing any settings, just opening it will bomb your project.
B&C - To get around the adding a track problem, make a base project with lots of video tracks. Then start each new project with it.
