When I print to tape, the signal is dropping out. Its very inconsistent, never in the exact same spots. Once or twice, I've even made it through without losing sync. Anyone else having this problem? Other than that vv3 is working like a champ...
I'd like to think the drive is fast enough, 7200rpm, ata100, and I'm a defrag (crack addict) fool. DMA is enabled... Should it not be? Thanks for the reply...
Are you running Win98SE or ME? Some versions of DirectX on those platforms have been observed doing this, but we don't have more information on it yet. In one case, upgrading to XP solved the problem.

I have no problems with this on an ME system. Sounds like something is running in the background. Hit CTRL/ALT/Delete and let us know what you have running on your system. Also, are you printing to DV tape inside Vegas or with print to tape via VidCap?
I'm running XP pro. I've got nothing going(except vegas) on my applications tab, on my processes tab I have 21 processes taking a commit charge of 95megs/1250megs. I'm reading as much as I can off the online info, and I'm starting to suspect my firewire card. Its a D-link DFW-500, and I find it is not on the list of prefered firewire cards. My next move is to make a change there, I'll post my findings here on the forum. Many thanks for the replies.
I am running XP and often have the same problem, I also suspect my firewire card, after exhausting my testing with everything else. When I get some time I am going to replace it.
I am running a 1.5G P4 with 512Meg RAM, 1 60 Gig ATA100 IDE drive and a 20Gig Ultra 160 SCSI drive both dedicated to video. I use a Director's Cut Video to firewire Converter to feed to a PAL VHS recorder. After about 45 seconds I start to get low toned crackeling this builds louder and louder more and more until about the 60 second mark when it snaps into 6 out of sync blocks. Sometime after a few more minutes it snaps back again! I have stuffed around with everything except the firewire card.
