Loss of Audio Sync

Hi,

I just installed Movie Studio 3.0 (build 78) on my computer.

I am trying to use it to edit AVI and Mpeg files.

When I playback the video on the timeline it loses synch with the audio. The audio plays back faster than the video.

I thought maybe this was an issue with the unrendered playback so I output to a movie and the same problem happens.

I have tried several input file formats and am experiencing the same problems.

I'm running XP home on a pentium 4 system with a Creative Soundblaster audio card.

Any insights as to what is wrong would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!!!

How are you capturing the video and audio? When you play your raw captured files in Windows Media Player is it still out of sync? If it is out of sync in WMP then the problem is with your capture device. If it plays OK in WMP but is out of sync in MovieStudio, what codec are you using? Some codecs like DivX don’t work well in VideoFactory and perhaps MovieStudio too. If so, try a different codec for capture.

Anytime you try to edit MPEG files it is just about a certainty that the audio will at some point go out of synch with the video. It is for this reason that people on this forum repeat over and over that if you want to do any editing you have to work with DV .AVI files. Only then can you have any kind of high success rate.

And it isn't just an issue with VideoFactory. I haven't come across an low end editing package yet where it works.
