Loss of communication with DV Camcorder

I'm running Vegas Video with a Belkin Firewire card. When I connect a DV camera and try to capture video, I get a few minutes into the capture and the system loses communication with the camera. When I went to the Belkin website, I couldn't even find the card I just bought last week. So now I'm thinking I got skunked. Anyone have similar experiences? Any thoughts?

I've lost connection with my cam before - but it was not during actual capture.
My cam would automatically turn off if left idle for 5 minutes - if i had my capture app running - it would then give the comm error

Sure you are probably referring to error during actual capture though.

Best thing i can recommend is trying to isolate the problem.
Sure it could be your card, but ya never know.

maybe try to find someone else with ieee port on their computer and try to capture with your camera.
