Loss Of Quality?

I did post this in DVDA but maybe more poeple read this forum.

As DVDA 2 does burn to dual-layer discs I render with Vegas 5 and burn with Nero 7.

Sometimes a project is only around 5.5 to 6GB. Would I lose much quality attempting to fit that onto a single-layer disc using Nero's Automatic (Fit to disc) option?

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks

I'll preface this by saying that I've never used Nero so I have no idea what the quality is like doing this.
In your case, my preference would be one of two things.
#1. Re-encode from Vegas at a bitrate small enough to allow it to fit on a single layer disc.
#2. Use DVD Shrink if you don't want to re-encode but still want it to fit.

edit: I think the guy who came up with DVD Shrink is now working for Nero so maybe it is a good option after all :-)

There's two critical factors here. Bitrate and content. Also what type of audio encoding, Dolby leaves a lot more bits for the vision than PCM.

Without knowing more it's VERY hard to answer your question.
