Lost Burner on NForce chipset

Hi all,

Since changing computer, I can't get Vegas to recognise my DVD burner. I've tried 3 of different makes but with no luck. Vegas 5 and 6 both exhibit the same problem. They were fine on my other computer.

I'm aware that it maybe the NForce chipset causing problems so I've updated all the MB drivers including the RAID and IDE. Updated the BIOS and run the updated firmware on 2 of the 3 drives. No luck.

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Thanks.

Make sure that no other software is blocking it, like Roxio, Media player, movie maker, etc.

I'm also troubleshooting a "lost" NEC burner, a 3520A.

Try downloading newest nForce 4 driver package, version 6.66, which was just released mid-July. It didn't clear it up for me, but I'm working with Sony Support and Engineering to import some files which will output error logs for Sony to review.

Bump this up occasionally, or e-mail me at grob@sopris.net and I'll keep you posted. BTW, Nero and WMP both see and access the drive. I'm ripping CDs via WMP and burning DVDs authored in DVDA3 via Nero 6.

BUMP. Cheers Darryl,

Looks like I'll be doing the same. I've lodged a report with Sony, for all the good it will do but I'll keep you posted with any news.

Simon.

Bump. Still an issue.

It may not be instantaneous, but Sony Support was there and following up. I eventually purchased a "Single Issue" Support option and have had a running dialogue with their tech (Ted). He's waiting for "Engineering" to get me some files to facilitate their fix (hopefully). All things considered, I've had way worse tech support.

It is unfortunate they have made you pay for support. This issue was reported to them almost a year ago by me with version 4. They refunded my purchase of Studio and sent me a free version on the music editing software to say sorry (which didn't work with my DVD burner either). I really thought this would have been resolved a long time ago. They had told me back then that "Engineering" was working on it and asked if I would mind being a "tester" with any updates. I offered to try it on my machine (which was risky because it was my main production computer) but they never contacted me with any kind of fix.

Just though you'd want to know.
