Lost Media Manager in V7 & V8

I'm getting an error that Media Mgr won't work.

I've downloaded/installed version 2.1 for my V7 and version 2.3 for my V8 and neither one will work with appropriate Vegas version.

Is there a way to have it scan my CPU and build the library like it should or do I need to uninstall everything and start all over?

anyone else have this since installing V8?

Yep, I have. And it's still unresolved.

Mike,
Did yours once work and then disappear in V7?

I checked my software program list beforehand and the V7 version was listed prior to installing the V8 version, yet it is no longer acknowledged as being installed.....
I was checking to see if V7 and V8 used the same version and would it be necessary to install a second version of MM to work with the newer V8.

Funny... I UNinstalled V7 (and media manager 2.2) when I installed V8, but after having some problems with V8 I reinstalled V7... the previous media manage DID NOT install. V7 is now using V8's media manager.
So i would uninstall BOTH media managers, and then only install MM2.3... and then see what you got.

Blink:
When you did the reinstall did it go ahead and scan your computer and build the library automatically?

p.s. Got my boxed V8 yesterday and thought I might just uninstall the trial and install with the disc and see if anything improves.

Sorry Eileen... I haven't even gotten that far yet! It'll be a bit before I get myself that organized. I'm in the process of replacing my workstation base (desks and such).

I'm running both V7 and V8, using Media Manager in both. Everything is fine. It may be that V7 is using MM2.2 but it seems to work OK. Before installing V8, I uninstalled V6. Then installed V8. Everything worked flawlessly. Perhaps installing V8 from the disks will clear everything up.

FWIW I was running V7 under Win2K and Media Manager installed and [presumably] ran. But I never actually used it. I just upgraded my OS to XP Pro with SP2 [I was happy with W2K but Adobe CS3 requires XPSP2]. In reinstalling Vegas [I had to nuke the OS before the install, so things didn't carry over] got a msg that MM needed some MS C++ executable, which was then automatically installed. So far so good, but I now get an error when starting Vegas that MM will not run. No big deal for me, but there's no trace of V8 on this machine. So I can't blame it on that.

I unintalled my V8 trial and MM2.3
Installed from boxed disc and when I installed MM it said it was building the data base library....Ok

when I first opened V8 got an error that "the default library could not be opened"....

Still isn't working...

Anyone else found a solution?

This is on an XP sp2 machine
