:( I"m so sad I lost my dcr-trv11 it did great wonders for me. But I should stop feeling sorry for myself and start to look for a new camcorder.

I've been looking at some sony's and canons and they both look good. I was wondering if anyone can recomand anything for 900 or less . . . maybe even up too 1000 and less.

I'm really sorry for you - truly. This is not nice at all. Is that figure 900-1,000 in USd or GBp?

Although it is also not a majoraly good idea, but do you know of any recondition options WITH some GOOD supply house offering you ongoing maintenance contract

I can't give any advice other than make some long term arrangments for a 3Chipper - you WILL be astounded. Budget wise I know, I know is NOT in your present thoughts at the moment, but this could be the "push" you need. Is a "soft" loan an option?

I suppose your insurance wasn't an option? If it was, you probably have investigated this already. But make sure you weren't also covered under some home insurance.

What has taken your fancy so far? If you have see one, is there a forum for those Users and post some posts - yeah?

My advice, draw a line and move on.

Best regards,

Grazie

Sony DCR-PC110, seen on Yahoo for 1100USd - any good?

There's a piece of footage on the http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/

Go down to the list to:
jimmyant-abs_behind_the_scenes

The hand held stuff must be this cammy - He says he uses this Cammy in his most excellent piece. Go see and say what you think. He also uses a VX2000 and a main line Panny too! Some shoot eh! - 3 cameras.

Regards

Grazie

If you're looking for a good all-around 1-chip camera, and you were happy with your old TRV-11, I'd recommend any of the latest Sony offerings. I have a TRV-18 (since replaced with a newer model) that I picked up for $600 from B&H about a year ago. Analog-in, "on-the-fly" analog/DV conversion, memory stick for stills, LANC control, and manual focus, exposure and audio levels. Pretty good image for a 1-CCD camera, too. Newer models give you such bells & whistles as megapixel stills, network capbabliity (never understood the need for this frill), etc.

On the other hand, if you're willing to spend a bit more, consider getting a 3-chip camera like a Sony TRV-950, or a Panasonic AGEZ-50. MUCH better image quality than the 1-chipper you've been used to.

Go to B&H at:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com

& check 'em out.

well right now I'm looking at an optura 20 from canon . . . and also if I really really really want to save up alot of $$$ then I'm also looking at the canon gl2. I have never really had any experience with canon but from what I have read the both of those products are really good.
