Have you tried saving your project, closing Vegas, then shutting down and restarting? Usually if it is a driver issue or something conflicted, it resolves itself upon startup... but then again, we are living in a windows world!

yep, I did. Twice now. Also, my mute button is not on! I also tried creating a new project, and nothing.

I assume you are using an external monitor. Check to make sure that the cables have not become loose. if they are not, try switching back to the preview window to see if you have anything showing up there. If no, look to see if you didn't change the opacity slider on the track.
If you do have feed showing up on your preview window then you know it is either your connection, your setting for displaying on an external monitor, or the monitor itself.

never "ass-u-me"! lol No, just using my laptop for this project, so it's just the preview monitor I'm using on the interface. The level is all the way up on the track, if that's what you mean by the opacity. Also, it doesn't show up on all events (clips) nor on a new track.

ps. also, when I open trimmer, the video shows up in the monitor from the trimmer, but not the timeline. Wierd, huh?

Did you hit the split screen button on the preview window?

Is your preview window have anything in it? What color is showing up? Black? You definitely hit something. If you don't have any presets to lose, you can reset all preferences in Vegas and it should take care of your issue. If you do have presets and you don't want to take the time to set them up, then I don't know what to tell you.

Edit: Forgot to tell you how- hold CTRL+Shift while starting up Vegas.

I'm reasonably sure I hit something! When I go to the select all under the monitor (I THINK this is the split screen) nothing happens, and the bullet point doesn't show: is it supposed to?

Black is all that's in the preview monitor.

I also did go to preferences and did default all because the only one I normally change is the space bar option.

-Still confused, but thankful for the help your trying to give me!

Forget about the dropdown menu for now and make sure the button to the left of the dropdown arrow (box with circle in it) is not depressed.

it's not. What did I possibly do? Looking like a reinstall...

Did you ever try holding down CTRL+Shift while starting up Vegas? This is different than going into preferences.

did you hapen to choose "clipboard" and "select all" in the split screen selection dropdown?

Is possibly solveable by clicking on the "split screen" icon.

thanks, all. Tried all of the above, to no avail. Seems I got an error at an "odd spot". Don't really know what I was doing when I got it, but anyway, just reinstalled the program, and now it's fine. A bit extreme, perhaps, but it works fine now!

Thank you,

mas
