While using vegas pro 10 I edited for several hours on an existing project saving along the way (approx. every 10 minutes) I saved one last time and shut the project down. The next day when I opened the project all the work done from the previous day was gone and I was right back where I started. The project showed it was saved
that nite but I cannot find the days work that is now missing. Please Help.

Was the project saved to your C drive?

When you browse to your project file using Windows Explorer, what date does it show as its saved date?

Always use "save as" to save immediately. "Save" actually saves when you shut down the computer. If it hiccups, your screwed.

Really? Have any proof of that? Save always saves immediately for me.

John222,

SAVE has always saved immediately. Have you experienced otherwise?

Not with Vegas. Actually Vegas has never crashed for me (knock on wood). But I've had problem with some other software where windows doesn't do some of it's dirty work until it's shutting down. So if you crash, the PC never goes thru the shut down cycle and you could lose some of your work.

It's easy enough to tell Windows to disable delayed cache writing so that never happens. But, even with it enabled i've never experienced a save taking longer than a couple of seconds after the application says it's complete.

The days when Windows waited until shutdown to write all it's buffers went away when Windows 95 replaced Win3.11. There has been no version of Windows since then which does that.

Your right. I work in an area where I have to support equipment with everything from Windows 3.1 to Windows 7. I guess it's one of those things I started doing many years ago and never thought about again. Thanks.
