ig wrote on 6/22/2007, 1:14 PM
Vegas 7e can't find the video scopes when I click on video scopes ...I also have vegas 4, 5, and 6 loaded on same computer and the scopes do come up in those versions ...I recently uninstalled / re-installed vegas 7e due to some issues and then did a system restore to go back to it again,,,,could someone point me in the direction to find out why 7e can't fine the scopes ...

I guess you'ev done:

#1 - GO > View > Video Scopes . . yes? Is it engaged? If it IS unchecked, come out go back in and then re-check. This should bring them Front-N-Centre again.

. . or try . .

#2 - Ctrl+Alt+2

. . or try . . .

#3 - Factory Reset: Ctrl+Shift when as you start VEGAS

I'm trying to bring them up as you described but they simply don't appear when I'm in 7e, they do come up from checking scopes in view panel in vegas 4,5 and 6 on the same machine...somehow 7e can't seem to find them

Are you using a second monitor for preview? The scopes can be over there (or anything else you've chosen to move there at some time). If so, click off the external preview button.

external preview will TOTALLY disable scopes... not just shift them, but disable them

DJ? "external preview will TOTALLY disable scopes... not just shift them, but disable them

I have Scopes working and animated/up-dating when my External Monitor Preview is enabled, as too with my Windows Secondary Display.

Maybe I didn't understand your comment correctly?

Sorry ..

I don't have problems with scopes and external monitor. Actually I put them on the external monitor, so if I want to see them I have to click off ext preview.

if previewing through DV device, the scopes are gone, as is any timecode info on the tape itself (ie turn off scopes, timecode data remains, turn on scopes, timecode data is gone)
that is..if the clip hasnt been messed with or if the clip doesnt require live conversion

I'm using a 2nd monitor,,,I usually place scopes there...let me restate though, that the scopes are coming up just fine in Vegas 4, 5, & 6 on the same machine..I'm assuming there must be some kind of issue with the path to the scopes in 7e on this machine...possibly as a result of my system restore...
I'd like to know how to find the scopes plugin and verify that 7e knows where to find them.

I'm betting the scopes are there - they're just hidden. For example, they could be in the dock area with the explorer/trimmer/project media, etc... Or they could be docked with the preview window. Or they could be "off the screen" somewhere.

If they're off the screen, just change your screen resolution and see if you can find it sitting somewhere.

I've looked behind every area, moved preview out of the way,,,etc...all other items under view settings like trimmer window, edit details, etc. all come up fine...tried single monitor and dual monitor configurations....any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks, Ira

Vegas 7 handles the external preview a little differently to previous versions. Do you see anything when you select/deselect scopes? At one time I mislaid mine behind preview on the external monitor, and when I activated them there was a brief flash as they activated and dived over to the 2nd monitor.

I've thoroughly checked behind the preview window and other docking areas ,,,all other items under view appear fine,,,when I check/uncheck scopes I don't see any indication of anything happening..

How about a factory RESET when you fire-up Vegas: Ctrl+Shift+VEGAS?

You WILL loose your working settngs.
