For those who aren't looking at the "Best Active Monitors at B&H for under $150?" thread. zZounds appears to have a website oversight and is selling the complete 5.1 system for $279.95. $11.99 ground shipping. Link at this site. Click on the 5.1 button. I followed the link all the wway through checkout and there were no red flags. (I have one already.)
I just ordered a set. The price held. Unless they come back with "We're sorry, we cannot honor that price cause our website was hosed"....I'll let you know if they ship and get delivered.....
<edit>
The online invoice says "We will immediately begin reviewing your order." Something tells me they will flag it and cancel. We'll see....
I can't see why it would be an oversight, when it's red tagged at 49% off.
Just make sure it's brand new, never been opened condition.
Maybe they're reburbished units??
Best I've ever seen was $405 shipped. As you may or may not know, the consensus is that this is the best "entry-level" 5.1 system. IOW, everything cheaper is weak, while this is a great system. I LOVE mine.
"When originally introduced, the LX4 was a popular 2.1 system with an available (optional) expansion pack with the surround satellites. Now, the surround satellites are included - at the same price! It's like getting a 3 surround speakers for FREE!"
This per briggs's website link, so no mistake. Sounds more like a blowout before introducing a new model.
Is less than $100 too much? ZZounds has the MAudio Revolution 5.1 PCI Card for $80 and the 7.1 PCI Card for $100. Probably not too late to revise your order :-)
That's just what I was thinking!
I see Sweetwater haven't dropped the price as yet. Hm, might give them a call as they do ship to down under. Still I'm kind of looking for something for a larger space, still if the price was right could come in handy.
Bob.
Got mine from AMS. SWEET! Does anyone know if the Revolution is a decent card, and if so, what is the best way to go from a 1/8" miniplug to a 1/4" TRS. Just an adapter. Make my own cable? Thanks.
The Revolution is a very nice card especially if you are used to other computer sound cards. However if you are used to pro audio sound cards, you probably have a different opinion.
If you are going to be doing a lot of recording into your computer, then you may want to step up. For playback it will probably be fine.
M-audio lists the Revolution as a consumer product while it's AudioPhile and Delta cards are the professional line. Unfortunately, if you want to drive a 5.1 system, I think you would have to step up to the Delta 66.
Again if you don't record too much, it's probably not that big a deal.
you should check out the m-audio 2496. it is a professional card with no mic input (no hum). it has midi in/out, stereo in/out/ and coaxial in/out.
i have that card with a geforce 6800 oc (watercooled)s-video out to viewsonic project(100in screen) m-audio digital coaxial out to 600watt pioneer surround (dts)
