.M2TS issue

Hello,
I recently got into video editing (mainly an audio guy) to put together a little webseries about video games. I bought a Hauppauge HD PVR and encountered a rather strange problem when importing SOME videos into Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.

The issue is shown in this video:

As you can see for reason it pushes the video up into the left corner while showing the PS3 menu from earlier in the video. This does not happen if I were to watch the .M2TS file in Windows Media Player.

I have seen a few other people with this problem but no solutions. Mainly I'm wondering if there is a way to convert the file so I don't have to re-record the rest of the footage that video was taken from.

Thank you in advance.

The problems are most likely the result of worth video from the Hauppauge unit -- which may produce M2T files, but not M2T files are are compatible with a video editing program like Vegas.

This is a commonly reported problem on a number of video editing forums. The video from that device simply doesn't dance well with most video editing software.

Here's one solution that involves re-processing the video with MainConcept Reference.

Thank you. I will look into that and see I can salvage my footage.

I think I discovered the issue and a work around. It seems the problem only arises if I start capturing from the PS3's XMB before opening a game. If I start afterwords there doesn't seem to be an issue at all. So if anyone else is having this problem, they may want to try that.
