.M4A files?

someone sent me some .M4A audio files to use in a spot. Vegas would not display them in the explorer window, however if I had the icon displayed in a window elsewhere, I could drag it onto the timeline or into the trimmer and it played fine.

is there a way I can get vegas to see this file type, or is it something Sony will have to update? thanks!

Sean

Save this as a .reg file and merge it:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\Extensions\.m4a]
"Source Filter"="{E206E4DE-A7EE-4A62-B3E9-4FBC8FE84C73}"
"Media Type"="{813BACB7-18A7-4068-AABD-8F8CD57011BC}"

you will need to install CoreAAC or elecard mpeg4 audio splitter ..

if it is multichannel - vegas might not see properly - you might just want to convert them to wav - which is easy enough ..

since it looks like you used them in vegas anyway -- you might just want to leave it at that and dont muck around if you are not sure what im talking about ..

i am pretty sure ffdshow will also decode - but doesnt work in vegas ...
