Machine ID for vegas???

Hello vegas users. I am an acid user, but i bought vegas movie studio for my step son. He came to me and asked "how do i do a split screen video?". I told him to sign up with the forum and ask the question. O.K, we signed him up, but as soon as we go to the movie studio forum under his account, sony asks for a "machine ID".

We're stuck. It would not let him in to ask his question, so I logged on under my account for help.

What are we missing? why can't he get on to the movie studio forum?

You can't register for the forums unless you've registered at least one piece of Sony software. If he registers his copy of Vegas with the same email address that he's using for the forum that should take care of it.

Alternatively you can go to Help / About in Vegas and get his machine ID. Entering that into the forum registration should also register his Vegas license too.
