magic bullet...

In my experience, the render times are comparable to stacking up a dozen vegas FX. The Vegas Median FX is possibly the slowest render of any Vegas FX. MBML is way longer. Worse for me was that magic bullet seemed to crash near the 95% completion whenever I chained it to other FX.

While the results (when it worked) were great, not worth the hassle for me. Is it just me?

IMO, the Magic Bullet looks are great, if you are looking for a "bullet" way to do this. Most of the same looks can be accomplished using Zenote' or Pixelan plugs, and they are OPTIMIZED for Vegas rather than just making a product that plugs in. Bullet is a good tool, but slow as hell, and worse, they don't seem to be interested in hearing what anyone has to say about optimizing. I've sent a few mails their way since DV Expo, and not a single response.

Spot,

You're right. I really love the look of MB esp. the FILMIC one, but the render is awfully long. It took me 10 days for a 46 min video, but the MB is pretty easy preset to use. Do you have any suggestion on what settings I should use with Zenote to replicate the FILMIC in MB? I have Grain & Glow, are these two enough. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm also curious which Zenote or Pixelan plug ins. Saw a little of your Pixelan on your dvd, but I don't recall anything like the MB stuff and I must have missed the Zenote thing entirely. Last I heard about Zenote they were supposed to come out with something, but it was indefinitely delayed.

Zenote should hire somebody to make a bunch of presets for their product. They seem to have a great opportunity.

I think the Red Giant people are very much "into" the Vegas aspect of their venture. Because of demand/request, they're currently Beta testing Misfire for Vegas Editors edition of MB. Misfire is quite a versatile package and really adds a lot to the Editors plugin. From what I've experienced, other issues will probably be addressed in time. Personally, I think Vegas is definitely on their radar and they are making a commitment to it. I'd give it some time and see what transpires.
