vegas pro 10 + 11 = 64 bits?
paul_w wrote on 9/9/2011, 12:34 PM
If this is indeed true, and its 64 bit, well there could be quite a few happy Vegas 10 users out there, me included. Please let it be as good if not faster than the 32 bit version.

This post made my day. Long been a HUGE fan of Magic Bullet and use it on 99% of my projects, which sadly has meant that I've had to stick with using Vegas 32 bit to continue to use it. I actually just wrote them to offer my profound gratitude that they've decided to come back to Sony and I truly hope I'm not the only one waiting in line to support them and make it worth their while.

To my eye nothing else has made my video's that little "something" that make them look just a little bit more finessed than Magic Bullet. I've heard people say that there are a lot of ways to achieve the looks that can be done in Magic Bullet but I myself have never been able to replicate the "feel" of what it does. I can't really explain it but I'm not just talking about extreme looks, I'm talking about a subtlety and nuance that I see in my projects when I use it even sparingly. There's a signature there that I can't quite put my finger on that doesn't just happen by using the standard set of tools in Vegas or other plugins I've tried.

As little as a week ago I was lamenting the fact that Magic Bullet was probably not coming back and thinking about options. I downloaded the trial of Sapphire Edge. Believe me when I say I wanted to like it, so far not a fan. I'll admit that I didn't have enough time to really get comfortable with it before the trial ran out but Magic Bullet out of box was so much more intuitive. The built in looks that it has have always been a great starting point and though I rarely use the default ones they are great to bounce around and get me on track with something and than I tweak to my hearts content. The built in looks for Sapphire Edge were all a bit extreme, as opposed to offering inspiration to go in one direction or another they just made me go "yuck". The only thing that I did like about SE was it's ability to keyframe effects. I'm crossing my fingers that a new version of Magic Bullet will offer this but honestly I'll just be happy enough to have it back that I won't sweat it too much if it doesnt.

Anyway, just my two cents. Really folks, if you might use it support them. I believe if they can actually find an audience for their software in Vegas other developers may be more likely to come out with other products that are currently only available on some of the more well known NLE's. I haven't a clue what promoted them to reverse their decision, I can only think that the whole Apple debacle may have inspired them to think that its possible that Vegas may have more users now and they might be able to make a dime. As much as I love MB and was bummed that they had given up for a time on Vegas if they weren't making money or were loosing money because not enough people were actually paying for it (ie not bootlegging) then I couldn't fault them for not wanting to loose money just so I could still have it.

Ben always found the speed acceptable given all that it does for his films. With GPU processing, it seems even faster. Ben's graphic card is a $150 NVIDEA GeForce GTX 460.

We're very, very glad they changed their mind and have returned to supporting Sony Vegas.

p.s. Ben, who is 16, made his last 3 1/2 films with Vegas+Magic Bullet. MACK will be at the Route 66 film festival in Springfield, IL, on Sept 17. SECRET CLUB will be at the Guam International Film Festival on Oct 1st. MOLLY AND THE MASKED STORM will be playing at Shriekfest in LA on Oct 2nd. ALONE TOGETHER is in post production with an early trailer on his film website: http://slugco.com/

"Magic Bullet Looks 2 for Vegas Pro is available immediately and is part of Magic Bullet Suite 11"

Well, i just downloaded MBL 2 Suite 11 and want to test as a trial version.
The installer shows "Wrong Version" for the trial serial number. And then if i try to install futher, Vegas is not even listed on the host list of apps.
Futhermore, if you go to the compatibilty list at the website, it states that MBL2 is not compatible with Vegas!!, and only versions 7 and 8 of vegas are even listed.
Very confusing, and i can't seem to install a trial - now what? help.

I get the impression that they didn't update their site yet.

yeah, looks this way (no pun intended)

Edit update:
Just got off from a live chat session with Red Giant about this. Confirmed - its NOT released on the website yet. And they can not give any ETA for update. But, its close!

Keep an eye on it.

TLF, in a word "Yes." Beyond what I said earlier there were also technical issues that made it difficult to port into Vegas, the fact that they overcame this and are re-supporting it is nothing but welcome news for people like me who love the program. Theyre not some small unknown company and I trust that this was not a light decision.

I think it's silly to imply something nefarious because it's not up right at this moment. Of course you're welcome to like/dislike, use/not use, buy or not buy it but your negative speculation and being so quick to naysay wont do anything to hamper my own joy over its return! =)

This is great news! I've been using the Magic Bullet suite in Premiere and After Effects and seeing Red Giant support Vegas again is fantastic.

Does anyone know if the WHOLE Magic Bullet suite will work with Vegas 11?

This is truly great news. Kudos to Red Giant for listening to their customers. Despite what others say I've never been able to get the subtle refined results I can get using MB Looks. Plus the amount of tools available in the new Looks makes it one of the best value plugins in my opinion. It's a like toolbox of video refinement effects. And the speed issues of the original free MB plugin included with Vegas 7 do not exist in the newer versions with the right graphics card. Black magic support also makes previewing your effects from within the MB interface very useable now.

I've been using Looks in After Effects but this will makes things so much easier. Very happy camper here.

Couple of things I'm wondering:

1. Free upgrade for owners of current Looks? (By the way if you own a previous version of Looks you can upgrade at a reasonable price and there is no reason to by the MB Suite 11 if the other programs do not support Vegas.)

2. Is it compatable with Vegas 32bit float mode?

Great news. It's that subtlty that I want. I loved developing looks the way I want and Looks did it. My 2 beefs with it were workflow:

1) Naming and further readjustment knowing the Preset I made

2) Real Time adjustment. This is video, the scene changes every frame.

If those 2 wishes are met then I hope there is a seductive upgrade price from MBL?

Very excited,

Grazie

I really like Red Giant products because they're great fx and they work across the board so you don't need to pay extra to use them in different NLE's. I wish more companies did this. Boris FX Red 5 does but BBC 7 has to be bought separately for Vegas and AE which is not feasible in my case and probably for many of us.

I've been buying many of RG fx Friday deals which are 60% off. I really hope they'll offer regular RG customers a discount to upgrade to the MB Suite when it's Vegas ready. I own Looks 1 and Mojo already so it's a bit tricky working out what's the best upgrade path. Looks 2 is a $99 upgrade and the Suite is $399. Not sure if I can justify $399 for the rest of the Suite fx. Perhaps someone can convince me otherwise.

Also wanted to add that it would be great if RG fx worked in RED 5. I've tried but atm they don't. Some of the Digieffects and RE:Vision ones do which means they are available in Vegas via RED. I hope RG implement this in the future but if they're going to introduce native Vegas support with all of their fx in the future then maybe this is unnecessary.
