Hello, Magic Bullet Looks Version 4 and Vegas Pro Version 21. Looks worked in Version 20 and then out of nowhere the presets disappeared and in Version 21 there are no presets.
@ANTHONY-RAYNER ... I've just installed Looks 4 (build 13.0.17) and the presets appear in both VP20 (build 411) and VP21 (build 187) after hitting the R arrow in the bottom LH corner of the Looks window.
Looks 4 originally goes back some 7 years and it used to be the case many years ago (probably longer than 7 years ago) that it was sometimes necessary to re-install a 3rd party program to get it to work in the next version of Vegas Pro. But please note that I've just installed Looks 4 on my current desktop computer for the very first time.
Looks in Vegas Pro is NOT 'Magic Bullet Looks' which is a 3rd party OFX plugin released years and years ago by Red Giant, a company that has since been acquired by MAXON. Magic Bullet Looks is now part of the Red Giant subscription only package.
This is so confusing because you wrote:
MAGIC BULLET LOOKS (the topic title)
Why do the Magic Bullet Looks preset looks no longer appear?

I see, well the LOOKS, which I thought was magic bullet, that comes with Vegas at least at one time had presets that are no longer there or I am just not able to find them. Is my only recourse now to subscribe to Red Giant?
BTW the looks on Vegas 21 states in the "about" tab that it is Magic Bullet Looks Version 4.
@ANTHONY-RAYNER -Well spotted! These "vestiges" of defunct s/w hang about like the aroma of moldy cheese on a hot Summer's day.
I was involved in a long thread hereabouts, that culminated in me realising that MBL had slithered over to the "Dark-Side" where that particular land is populated by zombie subscriptions.
A similar native video effect in both VP20 and 21 is named 'AutoLooks' - I am not aware that Vegas Pro has ever had a native video FX named 'Looks'. The 'Looks' video FX that you have identified as being 'Magic Bullet Looks Version 4' is NOT and never has been a standard video FX that comes with Vegas Pro, it is a 3rd party OFX plugin released by Red Giant some 7 years ago, but there have been several builds of version 4. the last one being 13.0.17 (this being the Magic Bullet Suite installer. As was pointed out before, this build newly installed on my computer from that build's .exe file enables Magic Bullet Looks to successfully work in both VP20 and 21. You'll need to check the Magic Bullet .exe file for Looks that you would have originally obtained from Red Giant to see if it is the latest build.
If want to update, MB Looks is not available individually but as part of Maxon's Red Giant package - it is not inexpensive. Interestingly, they do now offer that package as a perpetual licence in addition to subscription. Make sure to check out the host compatibility because not everything in the Red Giant package works in Vegas Pro.
EDIT: For MAXON pricing in your country, it would be best to search for MAXON from your computer because it seems that it provides pricing based on which country the search has been made from.

Only me and my opinions, keep hearing the following: "What a tangled web we weave when first we start to .........?"
A billion years ago I met up with the MBL Team here in London, great crowd. But they've all gone onto "other" things now.

But the question arises as to whether or not your RG Universe version is the current release or a years old version when that earlier version had Vegas Pro compatibility? If the latter, does it work in Vegas Pro versions prior to VP23 but just not in VP23?
There are a few posts on Reddit going back to up to 5 years about Universe not working in Vegas Pro.
I had RG Universe about 10 years ago and it was quite good at the time, but RG changed access to Universe perhaps 8 or so years ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember if it was because it became included in an RG package (most of the FX not working in VP) costing more $$$ or that support for Vegas Pro ended at the time - so got rid of it. That would have been about the time I moved over to BorisFX's BCC (Continuum Complete) which significantly outshone Universe.
I have little doubt that my versions of Magic Bullet Looks 3, 4 and 5 will install in Vegas Pro 23 (as they have in previous VP versions), but even though Jason Edades has named his product as being Magic Bullet in his post, his product is in fact 'Universe' based on the posted error message details (e.g. svfx_Ofx1_1_plugin_x64-'com.redgiantsoftware.Universe_Transitions_Slide_OFX' (0, Transition).log).
Magic Bullet Looks and Universe are different products - Magic Bullet Looks being a Color Grader (and very good it is/was) whereas Universe is a collection of video FX and transitions in much the same way as occurs with BCC and used to occur with FXHome's Ignite Pro.
Thanks for pointing out it was Universe that is not working. Haven't seen the long list of what wasn't working I just flipped to the bottom of the post to see the Windows system dll. As for the Windows system file I would suggest Google to be your friend. Or contact Maxon support.
OT (but the very original post was about MBL not Universe): The biggest problem IMO about MBL was that new builds/versions weren't backwards compatible. If I created a color grade in MBL b3.1.1 but then installed MBL b3.1.4, I'd still have to have b3.1.1 installed to maintain the color grade on the video event that was done with b3.1.1. The same with versions - all new MBL builds and versions were separate installs for each new build/version but each with no backwards compatibility.
