Magic Bullet Looks with Vegas 9 on Vista x64?

The Red Giant website is a mess, and I can't make head nor tail of it, so perhaps someone here can help.

Does version 1.2.1 (or 1.3.0) work in Vegas 9.0c 32 bit running in Vista x64?

The Red Giant website claims MBL will run under Vista/W7 x64, but there is nothing about Vegas 9.0c compatibility.

I install the software, but receive exactly the same error messages as 1.2.0 threw up about not being registered and to reinstall.

Red giant is closed until 4th Jan, so I'm getting no answer from them!

As an alternative, does anybody know where I can find presets for either the Sony Color Corrector or AAV ColorLab?

Yes. I have 1.2 running in Vegas 9.0c 32 bit on Windows 7 64-bit and previously on Vista 64-bit. It will not show up in Vegas 64-bit but Vegas 32-bit works fine.

What I have found is that some plug-ins need administrator access to validate their license but not to run (I get this with After Effects plug-ins a lot). So you might try running Vegas as Administrator (right-click the icon and select "run as administrator") just to register Magic Bullet. Then you should be able to run it as normal. I don't remember if I had to do this or not but it's working for me now.

I've tried this. No Luck. I wonder if I need to uninstall Vegas 9 and try again...?

I've followed all the advice - run as administrator, run in compatibility mode, etc - but all to no avail.

Hm...

OK, I've downloaded the update again, and I don't think it's 1.3.0. Checking the attributes, it says date created 31 December 2009, but date modified is 1 February 2009. And that is way too old for the update.

Even the trial version isn't 1.3.0.

So, where can I actually download the update from.?!

The "update" is only for AVID and After Effects. The Sony Vegas installer in the MBL1.3 ZIP file is the same as my 1.2 installer and has a date of Feb 9, 2009. This is the latest for Sony Vegas.

So, here's what I did to get it working...

Repair of Vegas 9.0c doesn't resolve the issue.
Downloading from Red Giant doesn't resolve the issue.
Searched using Google,and fund that Toolfarm provides a demo;
Download from Toolfarm is corrupt, confirmed by looking at their download repository (file is only 765K instead of 61MB!)
Another search, and I find there is an alternative repository - download from there, and suddenly everything is working.

Hooray!

Such a shame all the renders are sooooo S L O W!

You need a more powerful graphics card. Magic Bullet will use your GPU to render so it pays to have a good graphics card if you use MBL. I have an Nvidia 9800GT which is only about $99 these days, and the average render is about 2.5x meaning each minute of video takes 2.5 minutes to render with a look like Black Diffusion applied.

I also noticed that Magic Bullet only uses one of my 4 processors. My render is humming along using all 4 processors in my quad-core, then drops to a single processor while rendering anything with MBL applied.
I am also using the 9800 graphics card.
