Magix AV1 rendering issues

marcinzm wrote on 4/25/2024, 3:40 PM

Hello,

I have problems with rendering using Magix AV1 codec.

Sometime output file has little size with black video with audio included, but sometimes when I launch rendering it throws me an error and output file doesn't even create.

I mean the latest build.

I can add that I wasn't able to render even one video with Magix AV1 codec.

When I did it via Voukoder, Voukoder AV1 codec file was created sucessfuly.

Do you have the same issues? I render only via CPU and with settings 100 Mbps for Average and another setting.

Regards

Marcin

I am 42. I have been creating videos since 2009 (the date when my first daughter was born in). My first video software was Pinnacle, next one was Sony Vegas 8 (I am not sure if remember it correctly). I am also a developer and wedding movie operator and editor. For example: I have created an Android app which let me control Vegas Pro rendering progress level on Android smartphone. I created it for fun, because I also love programming. I also created my own plugin for Audio To Text feature specified usage from Vegas Pro 19. I created proxy creation plugin which uses multiple GPU threads (maximum 3) to create proxy files for Vegas Pro. I also written many others plugin/softwares which enhance my video editing, also wedding editing.

@marcinzm Hi, Magix Movie Studio (totally different program) says this about AV1, & general talk online there's mentions of the need of Graphics cards that are compatible with AV1, I don't know if this is true with Vegas.

I wouldn't use it in VEGAS due to graphical glitches, sometimes failing to render and not supporting GPU encoding (I think... decoding does work. I don't have a GPU capable of encoding AV1).

HEVC is a similar option without the downsides.

@RogerS Ok. Thank you Roger, but what do you think of AV1 Voukoder codec rendering through Vegas? Is it right choince in comparision to x265? I have 200 Mbps SLOG3 4K 4:2:2 videoes and AV1 Voukoder lets me render up to 100 Mbps. I am not able to increase bitrate to 150 Mbps in AV1 Vokouder (the same as in AV1 Magix Vegas). Does this bitrate maximum limit reduce me quality strongly while using AV1 in Voukoder?

Why do you need such a high bitrate for a file to be delivered? Is it for HDR? Is the original file HEVC or AVC?

If not HDR, 8 bit 420 is ideal and I don't see a benefit of any AV1 over HEVC.
