Main Concept DV codec 2.4.16

Does anyone use the Main Concept DV codec?

I am trying to use it and I keep getting error messages when I attempt to play back the video on Windows Media Player or add the AVI to Vegas’s timeline. Windows Media Player tells me that one or more codecs required to play back the file could not be found.

The thing that is puzzling me is that when I render a short video it plays back ( 1 minute), but when I render a video approx 10 minutes long it does not (I get the error message above)

The dialog box I use is shown here on page 5:

Is there a setting other then "fastest" I should use?

I use this codec when encoding via VirtualDub/DeShaker. Never had a problemadding to the Vegas timeline.

A re-install of the codec may help.

Cheers,Tom

BTW .. I wish you (and others) did not hide their names. We're supposed to be a friends here. :-)

You shouldn't need it when dealing with Vegas. The built-in DV codec in Vegas is very, very good.

Don't use the "fastest" setting--it produces tons of artifacts. I discovered this for myself when using the MainConcept DV codec within VirtualDub (for DeShaker purposes). I noticed a lot of junk and judder on my processed files, and at first thought it was DeShaker's fault. Then I turned off the "fastest" button. What a difference in quality.
