Main Concept MP4: Red Frames

I opened up a project I rendered out to Main Concept mp4. I used settings I normally do for output to Vimeo. I populated the timeline and on the preview screen (set to preview/auto) I would get the frame number and the .....'s as if it was trying to bring up the frame in the preview. Then the still shots (first, middle and last) went red.

I checked the ram and it was well within range. 1.6gigs out of 8gigs.

I then closed out of 9.0c and opened 9.0c 64 (both on Windows 7) and populated the timeline and this time I did not get red frames but I still got the .......'s after the frame number and it wouldn't pull the preview up. I then deleted that off the timeline and put the same project, but a wmv version on the timeline and there were no issues.

Does Vegas not handle playing Main Concept mp4's well? I couldn't ever get the Sony mp4's to work on my system. The renders would always stall or Vegas would just disappear. I haven't tried yet on Windows 7, that was on Vista.

I've been having issues rendering MP4 files in Vegas 9.0c with Windows 7 from day one. The file renders, but it won't play back in Quicktime (it will start to play, but you can't go forward and try to play from a new point) and if I add the file to my iTunes account and load it to my iPod, I just get a black screen and half of the other videos on my iPod won't play until I remove the file I created in Vegas. Since I create videos for podcasts for two weekly news programs, this is a serious issue. I just upgraded to the newest version of Quicktime, but I think the problem is between Vegas and Windows 7 since I can render the same file on my Vista laptop and it will play fine (it just takes an hour longer to render). Knowing Windows 7 was coming, I'm a bit disappointed that the Sony people weren't prepared with a Vegas update like many other software companies were. I hope this issue is addressed and fixed sooner rather than later!
