Mainconcept mp4 constant bitrate won't save!

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a Mainconcept 720p 25fps mp4 render template that I will render high quality HD videos to Vimeo and Youtube.

Im using Vegas Pro 9 on this computer. I dont think I have the problem on my own Vegas Pro 8 on my laptop.

Everything works out fine but when I try to set the constant bitrate to 7 000 000 or 8 000 000 it won't save it. I click save and either it reverts it to a random number like 64 000 or then when I go back to check if it was saved it's then reverted it.

I can get it to save all the default numbers but trying to save 7 000 000 or 8 000 000 just doesnt work.

I got it to save 7 500 000 once but then I thought that oh it was a big and is fixed now and tried to change it to 8 000 000 and when I went back to check it was saved ok it was changed to 192 000.

Have you tried the Sony AVC template instead of the Mainconcept one? Try that one.

Ive tried it but the quality is way below Mainconcept rendering in my opinion.

It turns out the bitrate actually does get saved, it just doesn't display properly on the custom template.

I've reported this bug to Sony twice and nothing has been done. I even pointed them to a short YouTube clip I made to illustrate the problem (still no fix):

Edit: the video title indicates the problem is in 9.0c, but it remains a bug in 9.0e.

I've reported numerous bugs regarding the Mainconcept mp4 codec in Vegas 9.0 to SCS and Mainconcept and they have chosen to not fix it... at least for now.
