In the last 7 months SF has released 2 updates to the MC Encoder (contained in Vegas updates- if you have 3.0c you are current), and we will continue to update encoder components as they become available (and after they are well tested here).

Is there a particular feature of the MC standalone that you would like to see in the SF/MC encoder?

well, I was thinking about speed really. I have been trying the demo of the standalone encoder and it is alot faster encoding than when I encode from VV3 on my 1GHz AMD machine. Actually the MC standalone seems faster than the TMPEnc and Cinemacraft encoders too.

best regards

That is a good question SonicEPM!
Thanks to rufalo, I have DL'd the demo version of the stand alone encoder. I was hoping some of the MPEG Pros (forum users) could do the same, and play with it.
Tonight I'll play with some of the preset templates. There does seem to be more options in the stand alone utility, but I'm no expert on MPEG. The codec is version..... 1.1? vs. 1.0 in VV. Some of the files in the program folder are as recent as Sept. 5.
The "watermark" for the demo is surprisingly tiny, and placed in the upper left corner. Very Nice demo!

Thanks

I'm not sure if this features is in the standalone, but I'd like to see multipass VBR supported, as TMPGEnc and CCE have.

Thanks for listening.

If I were to install this demo version alongside VV3c, would it screw up any codecs VV3 is using?
Thanks

no, the MC demo or full version will not screw up Vegas. I am running both Vegas and the full version of the MC encoder.

Thanks ...then I will try it before another VV3 update ships this version. I just can't afford to be without VV3 - project deadline.

I have this demo installed on both a Win98 & XP machines.
It doesn't seem to like some of my DV files. Illegal Ops on 98SE and on XP the "...encountered a problem and needs to close..." messages. NOT a system crash, just a "soft" program crash...then just reopen the app. and try again

It did open and render many other files.
Faster? Yeah, but it depends on the settings.
Quality looks close enough to those rendered thru VV. I can't tell much of a diff. Maybe a slight hue difference, closer to the original file's hue, but again...settings....

I'll trust SoFo's opinion on this one!

I did like the little window that pops up when it's finished....and remains on the screen until you close it....showing the time it took to render.

No, it does not interfere in any way/shape/form with the MC codec that comes with VV. Even after uninstalling.

Not that this matters, but on both machines I'm also using WMP version 9 Beta.
