Major Performance Issues with Vegas 15

Hey friends,

So I'm currently attempting to edit a project in Vegas 15, but the performance is so slow that it's nearly impossible to work on anything. The most notable issue is when trying to tab back into Vegas 15 after having tabbed out for more than 20 seconds, the program will freeze and load as "Not responding" for about 45 seconds to a minute. I've tried every solution offered in many different threads (updating to the most recent build, disabling "so4compoundplug", etc.) but it seems like everything I try is fruitless. I never had this problem with Vegas 14, so why is this suddenly an issue?

Try unchecking the "close media files when not the active application" in the preferences then restart.

Maybe this can solve the freezing of Vegas after you tabbed out then going back.
