Make CDs from concert videos?

I have NUMEROUS Hi8 local concert videos from the last 10 years, that I have been converting to digital, using my Canopus ADVC 110, then use my SVMS Platinum 8 and Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio 8 to edit these and burn to DVD using my DVDAS 4.5.

After finally getting that process "ironed out" to my satisfaction, including remarkably good sound quality, I've been considering using the audio only from these concerts, wanting ultimately to burn them to audio CDs.

Does anyone know the best path to do that, given my software and that each of the video concerts fade in from black and no audio at the beginning of each song and out to black and no audio at the end of the individual songs. Except for the length of each concert, the editing already seems set up to make audio CD conversion pretty easy.

Except.... I don't know where to start! LOL

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a place to start:

Click "Tools" >> "Lay out Audio CD from Events".
Click "Tools" >> "Burn CD" >> "Disc at once Audio CD"

That may or may not work that easily, depending on how your concert events are set up.

If the automatic layout doesn't work right, you can erase all the red CD track markers and insert them manually by pressing the "N" key. Go to roughly the start of your first song and press "N". This will insert a PAIR of red markers, with "track 1" in between. Drag these markers as needed to mark the region for your first track. Repeat as needed for other tracks.

But, I have very little experience actually doing this -- so my advice might be incomplete. But at least you have a starting point.

Go to HELP, INDEX, AUDIO CD TRACK INDEX MARKERS

then hit DISPLAY to learn how to set up your tracks.

Once you've set up the tracks .. then go to

TOOLS, BURN CD

Thanks for the quick replies! So... it seems the ability to make audio only CDs is right in the Sony software. That's VERY COOL!

I will give your suggestions a shot... but the big UNKNOWN part of the proceedure is ME! LOL

Vegas (the original "pro" version) started life as an Audio editor -- support for video editing was added later.

As a result, Vegas and VMS have very good support for audio editing and CD creation. There are plenty of users who use Vegas strictly for studio (audio) recording and mixing, and never have a single visual element on the timeline. (But ProTools, cubase, cakewalk, etc., probably rule the roost these days...)
