What's the easyest way to make a copy of a project?
I made a rough cut of a short film. I want to keep this project (just in case).
I want to make a copy of it so I can cut it down. But I tryed to copy and paste the veg file and can't do.
How do you make a copy for the cut down?
I don't understand your question 100 % but here's an answer anyway.
When you've made a rough cut you can save it with trimmed media.
Choose save as.
Point to a new folder in the window that pops up.
Make sure you click the box that says "Copy and trim media with project".
Click save.
Now a new window pops up. Here you can choose to copy the whole length of the media with the project OR trimmed down copies with variable head and tail for future adjustments.
Click ok.
Vegas will now do what it's asked and everything you need to restore the project in the future is in the folder.
Your original media is untouched by the way. You have to manually delete it if you want to free up disk space.
Why not just make a copy of the .veg file? Any changes you make to the new .veg file will have no effect on the original project. You also won't use up any more disk space for media because the new project will use the same media files as the original project.
I have not figured out how to make a copy of the veg. file within Vegas, I can't copy and paste the file. I have to go out of Vegas, find the file and make a copy. There's got to be a way to do it in Vegas. What am I missing?
