I'm working on making my first dvd with dvda and all seems great except when I go to "make dvd," the program hangs or freezes, not opening a dialouge box or anything.
The project previews just fine. Am I missing a step? Or is this a known problem.
Need details. Computer specs, what other type of software you run, is your version a trial version or registered and anything else that may give us an idea to help you. What video format did you import into DVD-A? Audio type? Length of video? Conflicting software? You get the idea.
I working on a Vaio GRX550 running XP with 512 ram and ati card. I have ready an mpeg 2 file render from vegas 4.0. But I find that even if I just start a new project with either only a jpeg file imported or nothing at all, I encounter the same problem. The program freezes when I select "Make Dvd". It doesn't even open a dialog box, just stops.
Thanks for the feedback and replies in helping me to get around this problem.
Is vegas 4.0 the same as Movie Studio? As in my above post, I think my problem is not the file format, but internal to DVDa irreguardless of the imported files.
Movie Studio does call their editor Vegas 4.0, but if you have DVD-A then you must have bought a version of either Sonic Foundry's or Sony's Vegas 4.0 + DVD-A. This has caused confusion here before and it will again. I also have S.F. Vegas Video 4.0 + DVD-A. But I don't understand your problem and have never heard of it. If you've made a DVD with DVD-A before (I know you said it was your 1st.) and it's not working now, I can only suggest that one of your files in DVD-A is somehow corrupt. You might try a 'thorough Scan Disc' and check the 'fix errors' box. If you've never made one in DVD-A before, you could try un-installing DVD-A and re-installing it again.
Normally, you edit an .avi in Vegas and then you render it to an mpg2. In DVD-A, you then import your mpg2 (right click on the viewing screen in DVD-A and then click 'import media'. This will open a 'file window' and you find your mpg2's and import them. Then if you didn't make chapters in Vegas, you can make them in DVD-A and watch the mpgs in preview mode of DVD-A. When you're ready to make a DVD, you push that button and it will then show you 3 buttons to "Prepare", "Burn" or "Prepare and Burn". Then it'll tell you if it needs to recompress anything or if you're ready to go. If you're ready to go, it will then make your audio into an ac3 and Prepare your mpg2's for a DVD and it will then Burn it and your done.
There may be conflicting software too. Maybe some other video software on your machine??? But you'll need the real experts here to explain those details. I'm kind of surprised that nobody's said much here. But I've never heard of DVD-A locking up when you press the 'make DVD' button.
