Make good pictures

A question that has nothing to do directly with Vegas, about Mini DVD Camera. I am about to buy a new camera to edit with Vegas. And I am hesitating between the SONY PD170 and the PANASONIC DVX 100AE. I heard that last one had a very nice picture; not so agressive like video picture normally is?

Can anybody help me.

Thank you

Have you been to DVXuser forum and seen some of the clips people post. The DVX is a very good camera.

Have you considered the Canon gl2?
Been very pleased with mine.

I love my DVX. Used a GL2, XL1-S, and many others.

Hands down, DVX 100 (when used properly) is one of the best cameras I have ever worked with. The GL2 takes great images, but the 24p mode of the DVX wins in my book.

My DVX100a wins on the 24p thing too. A great camera.

Adam Wilt had a semi review on the DVX100A in December of 03 and an earlier review of the DVX100 at www.dv.com

You'll have to register to get to the articles, but if you do, th earticle can be found at http://www.dv.com/reviews/reviews_item.jhtml?category=Cameras&LookupId=/xml/review/wilt1203&_requestid=113060

Really depends on what and how you intend to shoot. If you want to make movies go with the DVX100, if you want videos go with the PD170. Both are fine cameras but they cater to a different market segment.
Also consider the service angle, Sony usualy shine in this area. If you intend to look after your kit then not such a big issue.
