Apply the markers in the trimmer. Of course, then you can't see their names on the timeline.

How about using sub-clips instead? Then they can be named individually and accessed individually.

the problem with subclips is that if you want to change the in/out points, you can't.

Sure you can. Right-click, open in trimmer, click on "Select Parent Media", adjust the in/out points as desired, and create another sub-clip. However, I would just create the sub-clips with some extra head and tail to begin with.

I was totally turned off to the trimmer after learning that the hard way.
