Make Movie Error Issue

RonnocoDen wrote on 5/28/2021, 4:35 AM

I've used this program for several videos, and all of a sudden, without changing any of the specs, I had an error occur when I tried to create the .MOV file. "An error occured while creating the file. A stream could not be opened because it was unrecognized or corrupt". It is not an issue with the footage, I am able to see and edit it fully. I burned the footage onto a DVD and then ripped it into its own file and the error keeps coming back. I uninstalled and reinstalled Movie Studio 17. The only thing that changed was an update. Is there any way to find what footage is specifically corrupt, or how to fix this issue?

Thanks!

MOVs are not a video format so much as they are an envelope. An MOV can be made up of any of dozens of video and audio codecs, resolutions, frame rates and other elements.

Open the MOV in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the text of this report and paste it to this forum. With this detailed report we'll better be able to advise you. It could also help to know what device produced this recording. A camcorder? A phone? An app?

I recorded it from a DSLR camera. The footage underneath is just the ripped video from the DVD I burned. It is happening in even footage I was able to render in previously rendered footage, saying that it is corrupted. This began happening after I updated my software. Any help would be appreciated!

@RonnocoDen As Steve said a few posts above:

It's not the file in itself. There is something wrong with my software post update. The footage is jumpy as if not fully "Buffering" the video footage in the studio. But here's the .mov file:

I get the exact same error when choosing ".MOV" as an output format on a Xeon 3.5GHz/32GB-build (full-specs in sig) running Vegas Movie Studio 17 (build 221). Happens consistently (doesn't ever not happen). My install of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is fully up-to-date. No other third-party apps are installed on the machine except for Blackmagic's Media Express capture software. Source footage was from a Sony NEX-FS700 and an iPhone 7.
