"Make Movie" finished files are splitting

jbmunchie wrote on 7/25/2008, 10:05 AM
When I'm done with 'make movie' on my hour long video, the resulting file is split into 4 files instead of one. I can't find the setting to change this. The 4 files don't play right in DVD Architect.

If anyone knows how to change it to save the movie in one file, please let me know ASAP. I'm supposed to have videos to sell tomorrow!

Thanks,
Jana

Sounds like your target harddrive is formatted as FAT32. FAT32 files are limited to 4gigs in size.

Check the properties of your harddrive. If it is FAT32, you would need to format to NTFS to prevent the files from splitting.

Can you tell me how to do that? I'm using an external harddrive for video files, so that's probably where the problem is. What menu do I use to access that setting?

Double click on MY COMPUTER. Right Click on the drive in question and select properties. This will tell you how it is formatted. If this is a relatively new external harddrive, chances are it is default formatted at FAT32. This allows it to be used by either MAC or Windows.

If you re-format to NTFS, you will lose any data already stored on the harddrive. YOu can do a conversion, but I recommend a full reformat.

On your desktop, double click on [My Computer]. Click on the appropiate disk drive, right click, then select [Properties]. What you are looking at now should tell you if it's FAT32 or the NTFS. If it's FAT32, just format it as you would usually do, selecting NTFS as the outcome.
