Make Movie: Preferred Template?

Hi there! I have tried many multiple DVD burns to try to get to the following end result --

I have video clips (.avi) that were filmed by Panasonic camcorder in WS mode. I want to combine some of the captured clips and then save back to .avi format for archiving. The original (captured) clip shows full screen (on a WMP playback), but when I "Make Movie" to AVI (using DV Template), I get letterboxing. When I use "Make Movie" to AVI (using Default Template (uncompressed), I get full screen like the original clips. What is the BEST template to use so that I can archive, but plan to eventually burn these clips to DVD and display full-screen on a plasma WS TV??

Thanks in advance, I'm at a loss as to the best settings!

Set project properties to dv widescreen and when
rendering in make movie use video for windows avi. as the format
and ntsc dv widescreen as the template.

you should mention the aspect ratio instead of "full screen" to be clear to some of us thick heads... :)

If you havn'e done a lot of cutting of the original clips, you could save the original clips AND the .vf file. as you probably know, VMS does NOT alter the original .avi file. it saves all changes in the .vf file, so your original .avi is unchanged. by saving the original & .vf you have available your true master.
