Making a DVD in Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition

Carol-Nuttall wrote on 12/29/2018, 9:57 AM

Hi. I have Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition, so this is an old version, and I have recently put together a sequence lasting 1 hour 10 minutes from video taken by a Sony Handycam HD AVCHD camera. This was in stereo sound. I clicked the Make Movie button on the top bar and chose to save it to my hard drive as I wanted to make more than one DVD copy. When I looked on my computer I found that the resulting file was nearly 170 gb and, as a DVD is 4.7 gb, clearly this is way too large. I am a total amateur so I hope you will bear with me. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please? Do I need to reduce the size of the film sequence I have put together? Many thanks. Carol Nuttall.

How did you make that file on your harddrive?

Which settings?

I think that also your projectsettings are not good, because a DVD has only the possibility to make SD export for making a Video DVD to play on a DVD player, unless you want to make a Data DVD for archiving or player that can read HD files on Data DVD.

Hi. I clicked on the Make Movie button and the Render settings (which I now realise were too large) were as follows: Format: MainConcept MPEG-1, Template: VCD Pal, Description: Audio 224 Kbps, 44.100Hz, Layer 2, Video: 25 fps 352 x 288 It said 'Use this setting to create a PAL VCD-compliant MPEG-1 file'. The estimated size was 725.95mb. I hope this makes sense. I am afraid I am a real novice so am not sure what your message means. I wanted to save this to a DVD which could be played either on a television or PC so I could make copies for the family. Is this not possible? Many thanks for your time. Carol Nuttall

No
DVD needs Mpeg2 files
I only can show you how to do it the way you want on my installed VMS 10, but, I think, it has not much difference compared to 9

Success! Thank you so much j-v. I followed your video and got a render of 3.2gb. Your help is much appreciated. Kind regards, Carol Nuttall
