making a movie

I have been using Pinnacle Studio 8 for the past 3 years and have just recently purchased Vegas 4. I was trying to complete a wedding in Studio and after several weeks of trying to get it out as a movie I gave up and loaded Vegas into the computer and just started from scratch. I didn't have to much trouble getting through the 40 minutes of a wedding but just using basic stuff. Now I want to render and make a VHS tape of the wedding and can't find out what I need to do. I don't know from reading the help sections whether I need to go to "render as" or "print video to dv tape" I basically need to know what I need to do from this point on. I would accept email or if someone would allow me to call them I would be glad to do that just to get some help with the basics.

First of all, congratulations on the move to a great piece of software :-))

I don't know from reading the help sections whether I need to go to "render as" or "print video to dv tape".

You can do either one. If you choose "print video to dv tape", follow the on-screen instructions. The project will have to be rendered (which, depending on complexity, may take some time) but, when the rendering is done, it will tell you what to do next. It's fairly straight forward.

If you choose "render as", select "video for windows (*.avi) in the "save as type" box and "NTSC DV" in the template box. Then pick a place to store the completed file. Once this is done, start a new project, import this file and place it on the timeline. Now select "Tools > Print video to DV tape" and repeat the above. The only difference is that you're video is already rendered so this step will go very quickly.

BTW, the manual is availble on-line and it's free. You'll find it here. This particular section starts on p. 235.
