Making a Video

I am new to Sony Vegas Pro 8 or any kind of editing for that matter. I have managed to edit my video which was imported from my sony camcorder HDR -SR8. I am trying to make a video for the last 24 hours having no luck. The first time I tried, I it stopped because it run out of of disk space. It created a 84gb file. All I am trying to do is put in on a DVD or even my harddisk for the moment. I am not good with this technical options so can someone please help me here.

1. What options should I use - the movie is about an 1 hour long in the time line
2. How long can rendering take to do.
3. I have it running again with wvm options and its saying that it could take up to 11 hours to finish is this correct.

I need to get this done asap, need someone's help please.

DVDs are always MPEG-2. Render directly to this format and you'll end up with a reasonable file size, probably 3 to 4 GB. It will also be faster than WMV. How long it will take depends on lots of things: the length of the video, the output format, the speed of the processor, how much memory you have available, what effects and titles you've added, etc. Almost impossible to guess. However, by the time Vegas reaches 4% done it will give you an estimate of remaining time.

Thanks for that information I will try it and see how I get on. BTW can you "Make a movie" without rendering? What is rendering what does it do?

Rendering is like making chocolate chip cookies. You put all your ingredients into a bowl (timeline), stir them all together (render), and then put them in the oven to bake (burn (your DVD)).
