Making behind a picture transparent

Just wondering if anyone has ever used Digital Hotcakes Wedding Essentials Volume 1. I'm trying to figure out how to put a picture inside of another picture. These is an effect that has a heart and black in the middle of the heart... I've seen it before as an effect where they put the video inside of the heart but I can't figure out how to do it. I don't know if its a special plug-in? I guess the easiest way of explain it is ... is there anyway to change that black area in the middle so that it is transparent so that I can just place the movie behind the heart? If anyone knows how to do this please post a respose thank you.

Place the heart image on track 1 and the video on track 2 right beneath it. Add the ChromaKey effect to the heart and select the black center as the key color. The video from track 2 will now show through wherever that color appears in the picture.

If the foreground isn't moving you could possibly use the cookie cutter. Put the foreground on a track above what you want to show through and apply the CK FX.
If the CK is a bit limiting you could also use a Chroma Key (in this case it would become a luminance key). If it's not moving and you find the key is hard to get accurate turn on "Show mask only", switch off the other track, extrack a still, open in Photo Shop and touch up the mask, save as png and bring that back into Vegas on a track above and use as a mask.
There's many, many ways to do this.
One other thing, you might need to use pan and crop on the track that's going to show through so you don't loose too much of the image.

BTW though, these sorts of effects can get a bit twee.

That solved one of my problems... but the only other prob is that there is black inside the heart and then outside the heart so the pic shows up in the middle and outside... any other ideas
