Making Region Select Go Away?

Hi I have V4 and really get annoyed with the region select. Everytime I inadvertantly hit part of the time line or sometimes when I'm trying to move a track the in and outs want to readjust. Is there a way to temporarily turn off the region select(ion)?

Use "Selection Edit Tool" instead "Normal Edit Tool".

This can be turned off in preferences. Options -> Preferences -> Editing tab. Change "Collapse loop region when no time selection is present."
