Hi Mark,

I had a similar requirement in this thread

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/masking-custom-define-the-parameters--110360/

There is a short video towards the end showing how I worked it out. In the mask feature, basically you use the anchor creation tool, click on the canvas you're working on, then change the X & Y values. The measure starts at 0,0 from the top left corner. Then you click somewhere else, change the values again, and so on, before finally clicking back on the first anchor to close off the mask.

Thank you for this! Too bad it has to be that labor intensive when simply being able to create a rectangle/square or circle with a few coordinates would be easier/quicker. But I guess this will get the job done! Appreciate the prompt response. 😀

My pleasure. Others with more experience may chime in with a better solution, but I found this to be a good workaround.

Be sure to save your custom-made masks as presets if you want to recall them later, without having to re-do the process.

Not sure if another option will fit your requirements, as it doesn't seem to behave like a mask, but check out the 'Cookie Cutter' under video FX. After you drag the preset on to your clip, you can then change the color, border size, orientation etc in that FX's control panel. Damned if I can find any practical application for this though.

EDIT: OK, thought about this for a moment. You would use the Cookie cutter for a 'picture in picture' effect, where the cutout shows the layer sitting below it (or the inverse if you choose that option)
