Manual for an old SONY ECM 672????

Hi,
I was recently given a SONY ECM 672 shotgun microphone. However, it did not come with a manual.
I have tested out the mic and I am sure that not all sound is recorded. The base seems a little loose, as you can move the XLR connector at the bottoom. When I tested out the mic, the sound return was crackling, like a loose wire inside the mic tube.

So, I would appreciate any help in this.
Thank you guys!!

Yeah, been-there-done-that, had one for 20+ years... The XLR connector piece loosens over time.
You need he remove the interference tube & battery tube cover to gain access to the XLR housing by removing 'most' of the tiny Phillps-head screws and sliding the interference tube off of the frame and slide the battery cover tube up. It's an relatively simple job of tightening the XLR housing screw. Apply some "LockTight" or glue to keep it from re-loosening. However dissemble / reassembly of the mic requires dexterity and experience with small electronics, so do not attempt this w/o prior experience. Any pro-audio tech could do this in about 15min.
The 'crackling' could very well be a loose connector wire, or a 'funky' mic cable, if your using Phantom power.
Nice mic, though a little heavy for booming, mine spent most of it's life mounted on my partner's 25lb Betacam rig.
