I think you've discovered the max (300%) allowable at one time. I suggest rendering your sequence several times in order to get those clouds moving as fast as you'd like. Depending on the source material, there might not be much degradation even in several passes.
You can right-mouse-button click on the nodes to type in a value, but it's still limited to a maximum of 300%. However, in addition to using Velocity Envelope you can speed up the clip by Ctrl-dragging the end to the left. You can increase the speed by 4x this way, bringing the total speed to 12x of the original. If that's not enough, you can render a 12x version, bring this newly rendered file back onto the timeline, and repeat the process for 144x, 1728x, 20736x, 248832x ,,, etc speeds, or anywhere inbetween.
Please be careful though, the 300% limit was imposed to prevent talent from flying off the planet so please ensure all crew and talent are wearing harnesses before exceeding Warp 1 :)
If you want to see a very fast sample, http://www.chienworks.com/media/very-fast-clouds-552x.mpg It's 23 minutes compressed into 2.5 seconds. It took three renderings. The file is 288KB. I've got another one that i sped up from 93 minutes to 2.5 seconds, but it's hard to tell that it's clouds anymore. At 2232x any fluid continuity has been lost and it looks like a rapid series of stills rather than a moving image.
Yeah! You should try the OLD filming cars on a freeway - HAHA!!! Or Crowds in a shopping environment . .. . yeah yeah yeah old stuff . . but real neat too!
Grazie, have you ever seen the TV show "Early Edition"? I don't know when it was made, but PAX shows reruns most every night over here and i've become thoroughly addicted to it. The opening sequence and various transitions through the show are all timelapse scenes of Chicago and they're always very pretty and intriguing. Lots of shots of sunrises, sunsets, clouds going over the skyscrapers, trains & traffic going by, people walking down the streets, etc. The show is just gorgeously put together.
Of course, the time lapse stuff fits perfectly with the theme of the show. Basically, our protagonist is an ordinary guy who happens to get tomorrow's paper ... today. He finds out in advance all the bad things that are going to happen so he runs around all day trying to prevent them. In effect, he travels back in time from tomorrow to today to fix what went wrong. Anyway, lots of velocity stuff, lots of fun, beautiful show. Very warm and human too.
Well yes . .it is . we had it about 8 years back? Not sure. The papaer used to appear on his door mat outside his apartment - I think? And I think there was a friend who was always trying to "tempt" him to using this information into backing horses at the track I think? . .Oh yes the moralistic quotient is pretty high . .Good Will Out! and all that . . Yes it is good filming and well done . . It's a shame we can't all live in the present and not make wars and not harm each other and respect each other and celebrate the "now" . . . Yeah respect the past .. but make it relevant for the here and now . . . I get a tad scared when "good" people hanker or remain in the past as the present is too painful . . . hmmmm .. nothing to do with this thread . . where did all THAT come from . .sorry folks . . I think I'll vanish for a time .. . .
