Many Errors

I'm having MANY different errors with vegas 5 and dvda2. All these problems surfaced after downloading the vegas 6 trial version. My Vegas 5 constantly crashes during renders and even in the middle of editing. DVDA2 will not finish rendering a project and keeps bringing up this error.

Warning: An error occurred while writing a file. Invalid data was encountered when processing an MPEG file.

I don't understand why it is doing this. I tried to reinstall but that just brought more errors and when trying to register sony now tells me that my "grace period is over" concerning my serial number...whatever that means. So I can't even install my DVDA2 now.

I'm not doing anything different from what i was doing before...I'm using DVD Architect presets for MPEG renders in vegas.

PLEASE HELP!!! I'm going crazy and I have so many projects to finish.

Thanks Jeremiah

Please try this:

1) Delete all files in this folder:

:\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\File Formats\MCMPEG

2) Reinstall Vegas 5.

Didn't work.

I had to reinstall DVDA2 and get an activation code. Installed great, but instead of the error coming up in the middle of the prepare the error comes up right when I hit the prepare button...the error says:

Warning: An error occurred while writing a file. The reason for the error could not be determined.

Also, I'm having all kinds of problems on my computer now. Don't know if i have a virus or what. IE keeps crashing as I try to type this!

I"M GOING CRAZY!!!!

1. Windowsupdate.com

2. A competent virus scan:
Trend Micro or Norton work well, and there are others from time to time.

3. Spyware checking:
Ad-Aware (free version OK, but note that cookies are shown as spyware which is usually hooey)
Spybot Search and Destroy as an add-on, if needed (rarely)

Could my problems be caused by editing and rendering to 24p (2332) avi in vegas 6 trial....then taking that avi into vegas 5 and rendering as a mpeg-2 (24p dvd architect preset)?

because i just tried rendering a different dvd and it worked fine...and the errors i'm getting keep referring to a file...so i'm thinking it may be the mpeg..even though i've rendered it twice.

anyway..just a thought

thanks
