Hi there,
i am a totally newbe in dvd authoring so maybe some of my questions arent as big as a problem as i think they are. Any way i have made an 3d animation and exported it as a quicktime file. When i watch the quicktime file on my computer it is all in good quality and no problems everything looks good. After that i have imported it in vegas 5.0 and exported it using the "dvdarchitect pal" template in the render menu. The mpeg2 outputfile doesn't look that good at all i think. I mean not as clear and crisp as the quicktimefile. It is quite blurry. The real problems start when i import it in dvdarchitect 2.0 and try to make a selfplaying dvd from that file. After i have pressed the prepare dvd button and i press on the optimize button the first thing i notice is that it is going to be recompressed. I thought that was already done by vegas??????????????????????? Oke after the dvd is prepared and i give the vob file of the 3d animation a test run the real problems start. The image is even more blurier than before and the colors aren't the way they are suppose to be. The animation looks over saturated as well. So i assumed i did everything wrong. I did the same thing with a default background template from dvd architect. Prepared as dvd, gave it a testdrive and there the problem was again. A blurry sequensce with an over saturated look. This whole thing has made me very confused. I thought this software was easy to use and would give GOOD results instead of the blurry things i got on my screen?? Any way could anyone please help me and tell me what i've done wrong????

MPEG-2 is far better at rendering continuous tone video than it is at computer rendered video. This is just a property of the compression algorithm. Of course, if you want DVD, you have to use it, so the best suggestion I can offer is to use a high max and average bitrate, use VBR, and use 2-pass encoding. It WILL take longer to encode, though.

Not sure why a re-compress is occurring, but that will definitely make things even worse. I think I've seen the recompress problem complained about before on this forum, so I'd say do a search on it. Also make sure you have the 2.0a update.

Note that broadcast colors are different than computer colors... to get it to look good on a TV, you might have to perform some color correction in Vegas. Otherwise you might have over-saturation. Perhaps someone else can tell you more as I am not an expert on this. If not here, check the Vegas forum.
