marker numbers

any way to renumber these things after having to delete one so that the sequence is correct again?? or does it even matter?
i'm on a project now where there's going to be at least 40 chapters and i got up to 14 before realizing i didn't need #3 so i deleted it. now the sequence of markers was 1,2,4-14. i then added a new one at the end and it was assigned #3.

It only matters to you while you're looking at the screen during editing. Vegas and DVD Architect ignore the numbers and always use the markers in timeline order.

DVDA will pick up the marker numbers as the default chapter titles, but it will keep them the same order that they are on the timeline. So, when you first start the DVD, you'll see 1, 2, 4, 5 ... with 3 as the last chapter. But you're probably going to rename them there anyway.

That has always bothered me, too. It doesn't really matter all that much, but if the order isn't preserved then why do they even bother to put numbers on the markers? They may as well not have a number at all.

That's so you can jump to markers with keystrokes.
