Masking a QT with alpha

Haven't checked this with PNG but at least with a QT with alpha in the Event Mask workspace all I see is the checkered alpha indictors, no image. Kind of makes positioning the mask a bit hit and miss. No big drama this time as I only needed a quick cutout. Probably something that should be addressed in the future unless I'm missing something?

Come to think of it that workspace could use a bit of makeover. Would it be better to be able to see all the tracks below comped into the workspace?

Not sure what you're saying. I know PNG in QT supports alpha, and everything I've done the alpha in & put in to vegas shows the alpha correctly.

I just made a QT (PNG) with alpha & put it in to vegas. I had to turn the alpha on, then I went to event pan/crop, alpha worked and showed. Then I went to the mask controls, alpha worked and showed. Then I made a mask, alpha worked and showed.

I, personally, don't think you should see tracks below in the EVENT level mask/pan/crop, but it would be greatily appreciated as at least a checkbox & definitely a checkbox in the track motion.

Preview monitor window technically shows all that.

Thanks,
the alpha part works perfectly, no problem there.
The problem was that ALL I could see in the workspace was the alpha. For example if I had an animated logo in a QT and I wanted to mask part of it I couldn't see the logo, only the faint checkerboxes.

But after reading your post the penny dropped. I have a fade it at the start of the event. The event pan/crop mask workspace shows EXACTLY that as the first frame is indeed 100% transparent!

Too bloody hot to think straight down here even at 2AM and it's getting hotter.
