MASKING AND ANCHORS POINTS

This is something that has perplexed me (driven me mad!) since version 7. I normally give up and use Avid or Photoshop.

I often need to create a unique mask, often with 100-200 anchor points. Now, it's difficult enough zooming in, creating anchor points, clicking back on the normal edit tool, moving the image across, clicking back on the last anchor point, then clicking back on the anchor creating tool and creating more anchors etc etc etc etc. but - and this is where the problem is - it's all too easy to think you've joined onto the last anchor point.

So, my issue is, after 300 clicks, when I find I've missed one connection, I just can't find a way to connect the gap that I thought I'd connected to but apparently didn't. ie; There is a break in a line of 200 anchor points.

Surely there must be some way? I searched for hours today - and it feels like days before this, so sorry if you've had this before. Am I asking too much of Vegas? ie if you have to move an image around to create a detailed mask, then use other software?

Thanks in advance
