Masking Plug-in or other?

Yes, VMS 8 plat edition WILL NOT do the pan/crop mask for say a light saber edit. I did see one post that has a few links for other masking programs but the links are to old or have changed there programs. I have a hard time justifying the upgrade to Vegas Pro for such little hobbie editing I do. Is there a stand alone masking program to edit projects/selflearning that will do masking in the way Vegas Pro with the pan and crop does ? Looking to keep the price under 150$

Links, advice all welcome. Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for effects (light sabers, muzzle flash, particles, etc.) and masking, this program may be just what you want. And its currently $1 less than your $150 limit. (Not sure if thats a special price right now, or the normal price. They have some Christmas specials going on.)

Here's a link to the main page of the fxhome website: http://fxhome.com/

I have not used the software at all, but I follow the forums there pretty regularly, and am impressed with the movies that users submit there. They do have downloadable demos.

Note that this is not a plugin to Vegas/VMS -- you bring your clips into the fxhome software, add your effects, then render it out and bring it back into Vegas/VMS for cutting and editing.

I looked to see who the big responder was.. :) Tim bigtime thanks that is what I was looking for. I will say it like many others have said who come here for help, THANK YOU and the other more experienced editors who take the time to monitor the forums. BTW.. Response time was one bowl of Campbells split pea soup :).. Its a record.

You could purchase
for $79 at BHPhotovideo and get that functionality. You could stop with v6 and be good to go or... also purchase the update to
for $99. A bit over your $150 limit but maybe close enough :)
