Master Bus Screen Freeze

Richard-Curtis wrote on 8/18/2019, 5:40 AM

I find that my screen freezes anytime I click a slider inside the docked audio master bus window (I don't have to move a slider for this to happen).  I know this bug has been an issue with other users, so was disappointed to find it still existed after the recent major update.  I have a perfectly standard system - Windows 7 SP1 on a Dell 660 desktop; 8GB RAM; GTX 1660 Ti graphics; on-board audio - and I have experienced no similar issues in other video editing programs. I'm running Movie Studio Platinum 16. I know I can undock the offending window, and then everything will work - but this is an annoying bug that I would like to have fixed.

Yes, I just tried it, same here on my 7sp1. to over come the freez I just click/reclick vms on windows taskbar and that "released" the freez.

Good dodge - but it only works until the next time I click on the bus.  I suppose the answer is simply not to use the bus - or undock it and park it somewhere else, which also fixes the problem.  In any event, I'm using Movie Edit Pro now - it comes without strange anomalies like this one.

I can't repro (Windows 10). Which audio driver is selected at Options/Preferences/Audio Device?

The error occurs with me when the classic XP Theme is chosen instead of the Aero Theme for Windows. This also explains why it does not occur with Windows 10. The audio driver does not seem to matter.

I also use the simple non glitzy XP's desktop. The PC is a tool not art piece.

Marco: I have three options, all of which demonstrate identical behaviour - but let's say Windows Classic Wave Driver.  I have a few hours of video to process in MEP on W7: after that I'm upgrading to W10 and will try MSP16 again for the next tranche.  From what I read above I suspect W10 will not exhibit the same problem.

For those still using Windows 7 and having the screen freeze problem when adjusting an audio master bus slider, I can confirm the problem is no more in Windows 10.
